However, this temporary relief will end on 31 March 2025 so any transaction completed after this date will be subject to higher Stamp Duty rates that will significantly impact first time buyers going into next year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Current stamp duty rates and exemptions on residential properties are*:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First-time buyers purchasing a property below \u00a3425,000 pay no stamp duty on the property\u2019s value<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Non-first-time buyers pay:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>0% for the first \u00a3250,000<\/li>\n<li>5% on the portion from \u00a3250,001 to \u00a3925,000<\/li>\n<li>10% from \u00a3925,001 to \u00a31.5 million<\/li>\n<li>12% on the portion over \u00a31.5 million<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Changes to the rates of relief include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First time buyers will pay no stamp duty on properties valued less than \u00a3300,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Non-first-time buyers to pay:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>0% for the first \u00a3125,000.<\/li>\n<li>A new 2% rate will be introduced for properties valued from \u00a3125,000 up to \u00a3250,000<\/li>\n<li>5% on portion from \u00a3250,001 to \u00a3925,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sam continued: \u201cFor example, if you\u2019re buying your first home costing \u00a3400,000 you would currently not pay any stamp duty at all; however from 31 March 2025 you\u2019d owe \u00a35,000** so now really is the time to get the process started to avoid having to pay this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For first time buyers, we can offer deposit contributions, cash back and lower mortgage rates.
